THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1316)

Youth Confirmation

In the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, the Sacrament of Confirmation is received by youth who are in at least the 10th grade of high school and are 15 years of age. Preparation includes participation in our high school Religous Education program on Sunday mornings, as a student at a Catholic School, or home schooled with an approved Curriculum. Also integral to preparation for the sacrament is attendance at Confirmation classes and a Confirmation retreat. For more information contact Susan Carawan via email at [email protected].

Adult Confirmation

Baptized adults who are at least 18 years of age and have received their First Holy Communion may participate in adult Confirmation sessions.
